India vs New Zealand: Cheteshwar Pujara “Not Bothered” By His Century Drought | Cricket Information

India batter Cheteshwar Pujara hasn’t scored 100 in Check cricket since his 193-run knock towards Australia within the Sydney Check in January, 2019. The century drought, which has prolonged to virtually three years now, has elevated the stress on Pujara forward of India’s two-match Check sequence at house towards New Zealand beginning Thursday in Kanpur. Nevertheless, the highly-experienced 33-year-old batter has stated that he’s “not bothered” about scoring 100, so long as he’s contributing to the group.

Replying to a question on his century drought in Tuesday’s pre-match press convention, Pujara stated, “As far as my hundred is concerned, when it has to happen it will happen. My job is to bat well for the team and it’s not that I haven’t been getting runs. I have got 80s and 90s. As long as I am batting well and contributing for the team, I am not bothered about my hundred. It’s matter of one innings.”

Vice-captain for the opening Check in Kanpur, with Ajinkya Rahane taking on captaincy duties within the absence of standard captain Virat Kohli, Pujara stated the designation would not carry lots of change to his function within the squad.

“Added responsibility can work in your favour as you can share experience with youngsters. Even when I am not vice-captain, I try and share my experiences as much as I can and ultimate focus is about Indian team,” Pujara stated.


Earlier, India received the three-match T20I sequence 3-0 towards T20 World Cup runners-up New Zealand. Kohli, who will proceed to be on a break through the Kanpur Check, will be part of Workforce India for the second Check in Mumbai that begins on December 3.
