300 staff halt work on OTT present ‘Dharavi Financial institution’ as a consequence of unpaid wages, makers says ‘no wilful delay’

300 staff halt work on OTT present ‘Dharavi Financial institution’

Almost 300 each day wage staff halted work on OTT present “Dharavi Bank” following unpaid dues of just about a month, Ashok Dubey, Common Secretary, Federation of Western India Cine Staff (FWICE) mentioned on Wednesday.

Dubey informed PTI that the employees have been constructing the set of the Zee Studios backed collection “Dharavi Bank”, starring Vivek Oberoi and Suniel Shetty, on the movie metropolis in suburban Goregaon. The work got here to a halt on Tuesday afternoon.

Greater than Rs 50 lakhs unpaid wages are but to be cleared by the manufacturing home, Dubey claimed. The present will stream on MX Participant.

“Almost 300 staff are struggling as a consequence of a problem between the artwork director and the manufacturing home, Zee Studios. The employees have not been paid for nearly a month now and at last stopped working yesterday.

“When I spoke to the production house, the representative informed me that they got the bill (from the art director) only yesterday, so they won’t be able to immediately transfer the money to the workers. The estimate pending payment is more than Rs 50 lakhs,” he mentioned.

The employees are a part of the Movie Studios Setting and Allied Majdoor Union.

In accordance with Dubey, earlier the funds of staff would come to the union, which might then switch to them.

“However as per the commerce union tips, the employees are actually required to be paid instantly, which typically causes the problem.

“Production houses don’t have their details, account number. The workers also keep changing. This is a big set, so it came out in the open otherwise workers are facing these problems regularly.”

Dubey mentioned Zee Studios has assured that the cost shall be made, though with some delay. “The production house said, since they don’t have details of all workers, they might directly pay the union, which then will transfer the funds. They aren’t denying that they won’t pay,” he added.

In accordance with Zee Studios spokesperson, there’s “no question of payment delays”.

“The fact that there wasn’t any discipline of documentation from the crew employed. We actually raised the issues to the union and have told them to step in to close this issue. The payouts aren’t held up due to any wilful delay from Zee Studios,” the assertion learn.
